Whilst contemporary art is leaving behind the white cube as the optimal spatial environment, established in- stitutions still nd it hard to o er al- ternatives to neutral and anonymous gallery space in representative temples of art. Independent art platforms such as galleries or self-initiated enterpris- es prove to be more open-minded when they – sometimes illegally and often in revolutionary spirit – occupy the city parasitically, or implant positions temporarily.

Performance and new media art particularly require alternative spaces, which, often provocative and speci c, can function as open stag- es and include the public audience as part of the art. Reasons why we want to try a di erent approach on design spaces where to exhibit art is rst of all because the most of art galleries are generic spaces where you can put evermore almost every kind and of artpieces, because the selection of the artpieces is made by one person or a little group of curators and this entail

and this entail that the visitors are forced to see always the same famous artists, because often there is a
strict hierarchy of the spaces that is arranged in advance and this thing in- uenced the perception of the real val- ue of an artpiece, because an interior neutral space is completely separated from the environment, surroundings and the city in which is placed, because exhibition itinerary ( or a number of ) a ect the perception of the artworks and the connection between them.

How we want to try to change the situation and think about a Future Kunsthalle based in Berlin, started from this ideas: rst, that the time of the day, the places and the spaces shapes availables determine the num- ber, the disposition and the typolo- gies of the artpieces exposed, second because of not being a neutral space, the artistic experience is deeper and changes according to the changing places, spaces shapes ecc., in order to give to every artwork di erentes in- terpretation because of the variance of possibles perceptions.

We imagine spaces whitout physical “walls” deeply connected to Berlin: is the city, with its own empty and in-be- tween spaces, that decides the shape of the space of exhibition that melts or lies above this spots, where the city allows it.

We want only to create “tools” and “opportunities” - virtual and physi- cal - to follow, practice, see and show artworks. Inside the space we want to create we imagine endless itinerary possibilities because of the lack of

a standing enclosed space.
When asked “is necessary a physical building of a Kunsthalle?” we reply: No, and we neither want to create or restore another cool- underground - but not authentic - place of art produc- tion, so we imagine a website connect- ed to temporary exibitions and events all over the city, where everyone can upload his artworks and have the pos- sibility to require what, which tools and which type of space they need to expose their works: in this way the artist is also his own curator, when and where the city permits this possi- bility.
In order to realize this “schedule” even if we don’t need a building, we still have to provide all the implements that the members of the website need to expose their artpieces; so we are trying to develop one or a number
